This walkthrough shows how to create a traditional Windows desktop application in Visual Studio. The example application you'll create uses the Windows API to display "Hello, Windows desktop!" in a window. You can use the code that you develop in this walkthrough as a pattern to create other Windows desktop applications.

If you were following the walkthrough, you should have the Torch that you can buy from Merchant Kale. You will need the Torch here since this cave is dark inside. If you haven't purchased the item, fast travel back to the Church of Elleh site. Similar to the Groveside Cave, this is a small area to explore and also has an optional boss [Map Coordinates for Coastal Cave].

You've beaten Margit the Fell Omen and have arrived at the main gate of the Stormveil Castle, just by the gate's main gate, there is the Stormveil Main Gate Site of Grace that you can use. On the left side, you'll notice a room nearby, this is the castle's gatehouse, where you'll meet Gatekeeper Gostoc, an old tall fellow that may seem a bit suspicious. Speak to him and he will advise you to avoid entering the castle using the main gate because he says it's tightly guarded. But instead, he suggests you try the other way going through the opening, (on the left) claiming that guards don't know about that entrance. You will be given the choice to accept or reject his suggestion. If you reject it, he will be fine with that and respect your decision. He will even open the gate for you. But as soon as you enter a few steps, multiple arrows will strike you from far away. However, you can make it past them. For this walkthrough, we will go through the opening that Gostoc suggests.

Congratulations! You've completed the first of many Legacy Dungeons in Elden Ring, and you've beaten the first Demigod, Godrick the Grafted. If you were following our walkthrough for Stormveil Castle, you should formally arrive in Liurnia of the Lakes from the throne room of Godrick the Grafted. As soon as you enter the new region, you'll find the Lake-Facing Cliffs Site of Grace, examine it to discover the checkpoint, and if you were also following the walkthrough and have encountered Boc twice, you should find him here kneeling by the Lake-Facing Site of Grace, a cliff above to the entrance to Stillwater Cave. Make sure to talk to him and he'll offer to alter your armor. If he's not there when you first find the grace just rest.

There are also some other locations you may want to visit in the east map for Liurnia.Please note that if you've been following the walkthrough from the beginning, at this point there's not an easy way for you to reach the northern section of the area to access these locations, unless you want to do some fancy wall-climbing with Torrent and it is tedious and best left for later when you get easier access to these areas. But if want to attempt, following the steps below.

If you were following our walkthrough, you've just returned from the underground map and completed some parts of it within Ainsel River. For this section, we will guide you to exploring the west section of Liurnia of the Lakes before we proceed onto the next region which is Caelid. We suggest that you start at the Folly on the Lake Site of Grace and work your way from the bottom to the top (Elden Ring Map: Liurnia of the Lakes West Starting Point). Take note that it's entirely up to you on which location you want to complete first, you can always check the interactive Elden Ring Map to find what you need - now, your first stop, the Village of the Albinaurics.

Therefore the first step is to visit Siofra and complete it. BE WARNED: if you follow Preceptor Seluvis's questline, you will betray Ranni and fail her quest. We will not do this on this walkthrough but you can read about it on his page: Preceptor Seluvis.

To begin the walkthrough for Caelid, let us start at the Smoldering Church, located northeast of Stormhill (Elden Ring Map Link). You'll notice that there are multiple bloodstains around the entrance of the church, this is because an NPC Invader, Anastasia, Tarnished-Eater, will appear here when you walk up to the entrance of the church. This NPC invader wields a curved greatsword and her moves can easily be read. Make sure to dodge when she does that leaping attack and you can follow up with your attacks before she recovers as soon as she hits the ground or if she uses an attack where she swings her weapon while she walks forward, use this opportunity to hit her with ranged-attacks. Defeating this NPC invader drops the Sacred Scorpion Charm and a Furlcalling Finger Remedy - make sure to check inside the church to find the site of grace and two bodies holding the Nomadic Warrior's Cookbook [14] and the Missionary's Cookbook [3].

After defeating Rahdahn, you will now have access to Nokron, Eternal City. Follow the walkthrough on that page to procure the Fingerslayer Blade along the way. After finishing with Nokron, give Ranni the Fingerslayer Blade to continue with her quest, refer to Ranni the Witch page for more info. After giving her the blade, Renna's Rise will be opened and you can proceed to the next part of this walkthrough.

The remainder of this walkthrough is dedicated to picking up items, including a Golden Seed at the end. To start, go to a ruin on the left side earlier which contains a Somber Smithing Stone (7) and many tears. There is a single Golden Centipede in another room. Go further back and up the stairs to fight a Swordstress guarding a chest with Ghost Glovewort (9). At this point, you can go back to the first site of grace, or spend some of the upgrade materials.

If you open your map now, you will find yourself in an isolated area south of the Lake of Rot. Through the mist door, you'll fight Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, defeating this boss, you'll gain the Remembrance of the Naturalborn. You can check our Astel, Naturalborn of the Void page to find various strategies on how to defeat this boss - with all of the underground areas fully explored, head north past his boss room to find a lift that takes you back to the surface at Deep Ainsel Well. Head northeast and you'll come to the Moonlight Altar grace site, located in Western Liurnia, which if you've been following the walkthrough, were inacessable until now. This speed run walkthrough will assume you're systematically completing the areas in The Lands Between and that at this point you don't have access to the Mountaintop of the Giants yet. I'm under the impression that the dash version "walk-through" is correct as that seems to be the most commonly used. Most spell checks flag "walkthrough" as not a word, so I'm pretty sure that's out. Most grammar checks to not seem to flag the spaced version "walk through", however, so I'm not 100% sure.

In this case, walkthrough is the correct one. The why is a lot more complicated, and I for one am somewhat confused coming from a closed compound language. Even my spell check on this page is telling me that "walkthrough" is wrong, even if it is right in this sense.
